Born in Guernsey, John attended Melrose, Beechwood and Elizabeth College before studying Agriculture in the UK.  He and his brother Bill ran a local dairy herd for many years.  Director of Music at the Castel Church for over thirty years, he became Area Chairman of the Royal School of Church Music Committee and was awarded their Certificate of Special Service.

Having become licensed as a Reader in 1997, he worked at Les Cotils Christian Centre and served as Chaplain of the Castel Hospital before becoming ordained and was attached to the Town Church for seven years.  He became a mental health chaplain and was appointed Chaplain of Guernsey Prison, serving for four years before moving to Birmingham as priest-in-charge of St Agatha, Sparkbrook and St Barnabas, Balsall Heath. He served as acting Area Dean of Central Birmingham.

Now retired, he enjoys reading, making bread, poultry keeping and gardening, as well as researching the clergy who have served in Guernsey since the Calvinistic period.  Fr John and Carole have a son, a daughter and three grandchildren.
